International Coordinators Meeting

On May 11th -14th, 2010 International School of Law and Business (ISLB) hosted an International Coordinators Meeting “Networking-Sharing-Obtaining”. Representatives of higher education institutions from Germany, Austria, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, Romania and Spain together with ISLB academic staff, experts and students discussed the students’ and lecturers’ mobility opportunities in the frames of educational exchange programmes of the EU, shared the foreign students’ admission and integration experiences, introduced their higher education institutions, signed new contracts and developed the existing cooperation.

According to Ramunė Majauskaitė, Head of International Relations Office, which organized the International Coordinators Meeting, the event was a great success.

“The idea to organize an International Coordinators Meeting emerged while seeking to promote Lithuania, strengthen international cooperation in the academic context: develop international projects, participate in lecturers’ and students’ mobility programmes and encourage international scientific cooperation. The students and lecturers had an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with education systems, discuss the opportunities for studies and placements abroad, and get to know the culture, customs and traditions of different countries. International Coordinators Meeting is an effective tool for developing internationalisation within institution”, told Ramunė Majauskaitė.

An International Study Fair was organized in ISLB to provide the students with first-hand information on studies abroad; the exhibitors introduced study possibilities in their higher education institutions, provided interesting facts on history and culture of their home countries and treated the guests with culinary delights.

The participants of International Coordinators Meeting “Networking-Sharing-Obtaining” not only became familiarized with the activities of ISLB and delivered open lectures to the students, but also enjoyed the excursions to Vilnius old town, Lithuanian oldest capital city Kernavė, historic city and lake resort Trakai, visited the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, tasted Lithuanian cuisine dishes, learned national dances and songs. A workshop “Challenging Culture”, organized at European Information Office of the Seimas, was a unique opportunity to check the participants’ knowledge on Europan Union issues and culture diversities. The guests from ISLB academic partner institutions did not spare warm words to International School of Law and Business, organizing committee and were delighted with Lithuanian culture and traditions.

According to Ramunė Majauskaitė, such events facilitate to strengthen cooperation with academic partner institutions and provide with up-to-date information on studies abroad and mobility opportunities to the students and lecturers.  It is expected to organize similar events every year.
