Facts and Figures
The International School of Law and Business (ISLB) is a modern and fast-growing accredited institution of higher education providing professional Bachelor degrees (180 ECTS) that open up opportunities to pursue Master degrees in Lithuania and abroad. ISLB is the biggest private establishment of higher education in Lithuania.
ISLB follows a unanimous conception of a quality assurance system which is certified and meets the requirements of the international ISO 9001:2000 standard. ISLB is the leader in the area of quality management in education. In 2008 ISLB won the National Quality Prize and became a Laureate of the International Quality Tournament of the Central and Eastern European Countries.
Studies at ISLB
Studies at ISLB, which are conducted according to higher education study programmes acknowledged by the Ministry of Science and Education, are dynamic and highly oriented towards individual needs of students, the formation of their practical competence and provision of essential knowledge required for a working career.
Today there are 4 faculties at ISLB: the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Informatics, and the Faculty of Humanities, with a total number of 6,100 enrolled students and nearly 300 academics and practitioners, the majority of whom hold scientific degrees. The faculties implement seven study programmes, including Law, Tourism and Hotel Management, Business Management, Transport Management, Advertising Management, Accounting, and Finance, with a wide variety of business oriented specializations, such as Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Management of Beauty Services, Sales Management, Hotel Administration (also taught in English), Tourism Administration, Advertising and Communication Technologies, Advertising and Information Environment in Business, Logistics (also taught in English), and Organization and Management of Road Transport Companies.
ISLB offers two modes of studies: full-time studies (the duration is 3 years) and part-time studies (the duration is 4 years).
ISLB offers a range of market-oriented courses taught in English. They include courses in the area of business management, tourism and hotel administration, and international law. These courses are designed to offer students an opportunity to gain a broader knowledge and to receive specialized education in English provided by foreign and Lithuanian lecturers. In addition, with the aim of a more extensive internationalization, starting from September 2010 ISLB is going to launch two study programmes – Business Management and Tourism and Hotel Management – entirely in English. This will help attract more international students and enhance international knowledge and language skills of local students.
ISLB offers its students an opportunity to study a wide range of subjects on-line. In 2010 ISLB is set to establish a business simulation centre which will be used in the educational process.
Professional Training and Career
ISLB places a great emphasis on the development of students’ professional skills and competence. A significant part of the study programmes is dedicated to professional training. ISLB cooperates with various science and educational institutions, enterprises and business organisations. These contacts facilitate traineeship placement in leading enterprises.
Recently ISLB has obtained the Extended Erasmus University Charter, which facilitates student placements abroad and offers a possibility to strengthen students’ skills in the international arena.
The study programmes implemented at ISLB meet the demands of a contemporary labour market. The Career Centre established at ISLB provides consultancy for students on career planning and job search strategies and tactics. With the help of the Career Centre, our students are better equipped to get a desired position and successfully compete on the labour market. According to statistics, 81% of ISLB graduates get employed in line with their speciality, and 50% of students get a job in the course of professional training.
Scientific Activities
ISLB has conducted applied scientific research since 2001. The main areas of research are law, economics, management, sociology and education. The activities comprise R&D and organization of international and national scientific conferences and seminars.
ISBL publishes two periodical journals of peer reviewed research papers:
● Current Issues of Business and Law (ISSN 1822-9530) is a bi-annual publication enlisted in the EBSCO Publishing Business source complete. The PDF version of the first three volumes of Current Issues of Business and Law is available at http://www.ttvam.lt/lt/moksline-veikla/leidiniai/mokslo-darbai/verslo-ir-teises-aktualijos/leidinio-numeriai; and
● Issues of Business and Law (ISSN 2029-1094), also enlisted in EBSCO Publishing, has been published exclusively online by Versita, a partner of Springer Verlag in Central and Eastern Europe, since December 2008. This journal employs leading e-publishing technology of MetaPress: all accepted papers are published online and available for live linking. Accepted manuscripts are immediately published online without a specific publishing scheme. The papers can be found online at http://www.versita.com/science/business/ibl.
The journals offer new theoretical and practical insights in the fields of business economics, management and law. Papers involve explanatory theory, empirical studies or methodological treatments of tests. It is an excellent source of high quality and professional research from different countries. The Editorial Board of the journals consists of Lithuanian and foreign scientists.
ISLB is conducting a number of international and national projects.
From the very beginning of studies the students are involved in scientific activities. ISLB organizes an annual conference Business from the Students’ Perspective. This event provides a platform for students and young scientists to present their research papers and hold discussions. A special publication offering conference proceedings and a compilation of student research papers is published.
ISLB’s students participate in an annual entrepreneurship contest PROFAS organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, leading business enterprises and a public institution Profat. The competition gives students an opportunity to generate business ideas and consult business professionals. ISLB’s students won the second place in the contest in 2008 and the first prize in 2009.
In 2007 ISLB established the Scientific Students’ Union, an organization that unites students and young scientists conducting R&D in the field of law, organizes conferences and advises students on research paper writing.
International Activities
ISLB actively participates in international educational and project–based programmes. The main priorities are integration into the European educational processes, the mobility of students, lecturers and administrative staff, implementation of international projects and participation in the activities of foreign higher education institutions.
ISLB has signed over 70 Bilateral Agreements with partner–institutions in the frames of LLP/Erasmus programme and Nordplus Framework Programme as well as Master studies in Europe and South Korea.
ISLB’s lecturers are regularly invited for teaching visits by foreign higher education institutions. Thanks to a wide international cooperation, every year ISLB receives a number of visiting foreign lecturers and professors. ISLB is actively implementing student exchange projects via LLP/Erasmus programme. International full-time students may also use this unique opportunity and participate in Erasmus.
ISLB has signed an agreement on academic cooperation with the University of Wolverhampton, which will allow ISLB students to obtain one of the University's degrees and ISLB's Diploma. Joint study programmes and double diplomas are among key priorities of ISLB development.
ISLB offers an opportunity for its students to obtain a EuroBusiness Diploma and a EuroTourism Diploma with a European quality label offered by SPACE international association. A EuroBusiness Diploma provides a proof of international competence in business subjects, while a EuroTourism Diploma value adds studies through work placement opportunities abroad.

Participation in international programmes facilitates ISLB’s integration into the higher education development processes of the European Union and offers students an opportunity to acquire international experience and to follow novelties in the area of education.
